EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer (M-class) rubber), a type of synthetic rubber, is an elastomer characterized by a wide range of applications.

Time taken for
installation:
1000 sq.ft
with 4-5 colors takes 3-4 days. Time taken for importing product if not available
already: 8 weeks
Cost of product
in totality:
Rs. 250- Rs.260
per sqft for 15 mm thickness
Increases by an average of Rs.30 per 10 mm thickness
MATERIAL COMPONENTS:
ØButyl Acetate:
Chemical used on the floor prior to buffing, to achieve better bonding
ØSBR Buffing (Styrene‐Butadiene Rubber)
•Black in Color
•Properties:
Environment Friendly, excellent weather properties, low in cost
ØPU (Poly Urethane) Binder (type of glue which gives bonding to Rubber Granules)
•Transparent Color
•Properties: low UV degradation, minimal color change of EDPM Granules
ØEPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)
•Multi Color Options available, its a Synthetic Rubber
•Properties: water resistant, durable, UV stable.

Method of installation:
•Layout of all
equipment's present in facility to be marked in drawing and handed over to
product designer.
•Pattern decided
on to be designed keeping in mind the equipment placement.
•Concrete or any
smooth floor such as asphalt to be applied first to ensure no undulations in
EPDM flooring, thus aiding with reduced consumption of glue as well.
•Slope for
drainage to be accounted for in the initial stage itself. EPDM being a porous
material, the water seeps through it and flows to the drain.
•PU Binder and
SBR to be mixed in ratio as per vendor, made into a conjoined layer and laid on
the smooth floor.
•This is left to
dry for 24 hours, making sure there is no movement during this process.
•Design to be
marked on the SBR layer on which colored EPDM granules are added, which is bound by the PU
binder to form the final EPDM layer of required thickness.
ADVANTAGES:
•Hygienic
and Safer for Children
•Aesthetically
pleasing; Design and pattern of any type and colour can be employed
•Critical
Fall Height: Thickness of floor calculated based on fall height of child
•Resistance
to abrasion, slipping, indentation & ignition
•Lesser
maintenance compared to astro turf etc.
•No
cracking of floor, cushion surface
DISADVANTAGES:
•High
cost compared to other play area flooring
•Yellowing
Intensity Concept: Colour fades over a period of time,
especially brighter colours such as yellow or orange
•Affected
by temperature conditions- shrinks or expands depending on temperature- cannot
be laid at any time of the day
•Joints
come apart after a period of time, need repair
•Dust
attracted in joints, needs to be washed with high pressure jets
•Lesser
maintenance compared to astro turf etc.
•No
cracking of floor, cushion surface
